Posted in: UK court request rules against extraditing suspect in 2015 Tokyo jewelry heist See in context

Basically, the message the UK is giving is that one can commit a crime in another country, and then scurry off like a cockroach back to the UK and hide behind their lawyer's skirts.

If the UK is truly serious about stopping international crime, they should throw this guy back to Japan....simply to give the message to future criminals that crime committed anywhere in the world, will not be tolerated.

Why does this kind of thing become public news? Why not just do it in secret and hold it until its needed. Making news out of it just gives the other side info to develop something else

EXACTLY !!

I never understood why MSM has absolutely NO SENSE of national security.

Is it just me, but if anyone on Japan Today criticizes anything to do with Japan, it seems to be downvoted. Almost nationalistic.

Try posting anything criticizing china or the ccp in china-nese forums and see how much better you fair.

This is JAPAN Today and not USA Today where you think you can post whatever you want.

Visit of goodwill and look for more cheap workers that can come to Japan.

Unfortunately even Vietnamese don't want to come so eagerly to Japan anymore

Well, Japan can always look towards Nepal, Bhutan, India, etc.

Vietnamese workers can be replaced.

While Japan is at it, they might consider stricter checks on foreigners they in so as not to breach national security and prevent terrorist insurgents. Some of this money should definitely go towards that

THIS! I wholeheartedly agree!

The enemy is already inside. Eg, that recent prc university professor who was feeding Japanese tech back to his homeland.

Foreigners who buy "homes" near JGSDF bases, etc.

Here's a tip:

Link your credit cards to a smaller account with just enough money to pay for bills, groceries, etc. This way, if anything happens, only a small amount is gone.

Keep your main savings account SEPARATE ( eg, if your employer credits your salary directly into your bank account).

Many in the UN are on the ccp's payroll. They would do anything to tarnish Japan's reputation.

While it's laudable that they are highlighting the abuse that these gentlemen have endured, it's still an internal matter that the local law should do something about.

If the UN is so worried about abuse, perhaps they can hold china responsible for the abuse of Urgurs, Tibetans, Falong gong, child labor, etc?

I see this as a WIN.

English used to be a good way to communicate.

Now it is just a way for the woke to spread their hatred.

It is better for Japanese kids to focus on things that REALLY matter: Maths, Science, Computing and the most important thing of all...that most Japanese kids still have plenty of....RESPECT for elders and others.

In the west, high school kids take drugs and steal money.

In Japan, high school kids RETURN money that they find to the nearest police post.

To me, that's more important than English proficiency.

Education isn't just about what subjects you excel in, but about how ethical & civic minded you are.

Taiwan is no more Formosa.

So why is Taiwan Japan's business?

So, mind your own business Japan.

Taiwan does not belong to china.

It is a strong, independent country.

So what goes on between Taiwan and Japan is none of china's business.

So mind your own business, china.

Posted in: Police officer drunk driving cases in Japan up over 2-fold for Jan-June See in context

Folks, sorry if I offended some of you with my post above. It was intended to mock the way MSM reports things and not meant to mock the Japanese police. (ok, I may have been slightly carried away by the floppy disk & fax machine remarks)

You see, I KNOW that Japanese police are still some of the best behaved in the world.

But when the media takes an increase of 5 cases to 12 cases and makes headlines like "Police officer drunk driving cases in Japan up over 2-fold for Jan-June", I can't help but make fun of the media.

It's like, you take only 2 women and ask them if they have been abused and only 1 of them says 'yes' and the other says 'no' and that she is perfectly happy with her man, .... the media will claim "50% of women have been abused! The other 50% won't admit it !" .... when in truth, they only asked 2 women.

So, I was really just mocking the way the media reports things.

Yes, an increase of 12 cases from 5 is indeed a 2.4 fold increase. rolls eyes
