Woman stabbed outside Osaka apartment

A 31-year-old woman was stabbed outside her apartment in Osaka on Saturday night, police said Sunday.

According to police, the victim, who is a Korean national, called 110 at around 7:30 p.m. and said a woman, who was an acquaintance, had stabbed her, Kyodo News reported.

Police rushed to the scene but the suspect had fled. The victim was taken to hospital after having suffered knife wounds to her right thigh and neck. Police said Sunday her wounds were not life-threatening.

The victim told police she had returned home from shopping when she saw her acquaintance waiting in the corridor outside her third-floor apartment in Naniwa Ward. The woman suddenly stabbed her, dropped the knife and ran away.

Police said they are questioning the victim about any possible reason why her acquaintance stabbed her.

Simmering to boil.

Heard this story too many times in so-called safe "Japan"

The only thing that is different now is that the stabbing was on a Korean girl.

I expect that with the deteriorating economy, more accidents against foreigners will happen.

Stay safe and watch your surroundings.

"Heard this story too many times in so-called safe "Japan""

"Stay safe and watch your surroundings."

uh hmm.

Had one run up to my gate and take a picture at night (sic), then took off running. Later had some hating on a bike as they rode by.

Both losers were males in the 20 -30 range.

PSA: As "state dept says now, be Alert!

"Police said they are questioning the victim about any possible reason why her acquaintance stabbed her."

I feel doubly sorry for her having to endure both the stabbing and the J cop inquisition.

"I expect that with the deteriorating economy, more accidents against foreigners will happen."

Let's hope that never happens, to the extent it brings to the attention of the Committee on Foreign Affairs.

> A deteriorating economy then would be inconsequential.

The victim was Korean but no mention of the nationality of the attacker. More imported crime? Or not mentioned as they don't want to show Japanese violence against a foreign national?

Why so many people carrying knives? Are more people actually carrying knives with them routinely? Wtf.

Why so many people carrying knives?

People who intend to stab someone generally don't just intend to find one along the way, and actually bring one along to do the deed.

The article photo is about a fall from a building in Tokyo and not a stabbing in Osaka. The medical staff are wearing Tokyo jackets.

It is curious, but glad that JT did not focus on nationality when it's a non-Japanese involved in a crime as they usually do (i.e in the title).

What does 'imported crime' mean?

Mentioned earlier that te photo was incorrect and my factual comment has been removed, a very upsetting sign of the times.

Why so many people carrying knives?

“People who intend to stab someone generally don't just intend to find one along the way…”

Plus, they can’t readily get guns. If they could the stories would be different.

Seems that the Japanese police have their priorities mixed up

The Japanese police need to question the victim?

What reason is needed to stab someone?

Surely, going after the perpetrator is the action that is needed here?

The Japanese police need to question the victim?

Are you suggesting that a good investigation wouldn't gather any information from the victim?

You must be the chief of police, because clearly you know more about their job than they do!

@Strangerland

You are surely missing the point

Police said they are questioning the victim about any possible “reason” why her acquaintance stabbed her.

Are there any reasons salient to the crime as to why somebody is stabbed?

Oh, let me give you just one or two

’As there isn’t any access to guns in Japan, it wasn’t possible to shoot the perpetrator before being knifed’

or

’Not being able to react quickly enough and move out of the way, a stabbing occurred’

Etc

I can think of other more facetious reasons that have sweet FA to do with the actual crime

They ask the victim what could be the reason. I think an acquaintance could tell more about...

@memoryfix A knife seems to be the weapon of choice in Japan where as in other countries like America where guns are abundant a gun is the choice. Therefore if someone was stabbed that implies there was intent because people just don't carry knives.

Why so many people carrying knives? Are more people actually carrying knives with them routinely? Wtf.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

By intent usually means they have a target? Are they hunting for a victim, or are they carrying a knife just in case somebody frustrates them that day? It’s weird.

Sounds like the good ol' M&M case; Money or a Man.
