At around 6 a.m. on Thursday, a visitor brought the act of vandalism to a temple worker's attention. The illicit image, approximately 43 centimeters long and 30 cm wide, was found etched into the wall at a height of about 180 cm from the ground.

That took more than just a few seconds or minutes to do, and one would think that someone saw something.

Let me guess, no cameras anywhere either.

Same happened at the Colosseum in Rome (British tourist), but another tourist nearby confronted him while doing it, and then took a video of him doing it.

I'm actually not that sure about that. If you look at the image of the "vandalism", it looks more like someone "artfully" wiped the dirt off a wooden panel.

Continuation of Roy's Comment:

now that you mention it, they could have been using a sponge and CLEAN the dirt off it, in order to draw what they intended...hardly what I would call "Damage" (if that's what they did).

Yeah right, look again. The cat is pinkish in color. It looks like someone use a a pink marker.

Funny, Japan did not have this problem last year when there were no foreign tourist.

Like Roy said it looks like dirt washed off. Also, zoom in and you can see other images that dirt has slowly covered over time.

But overall, as an artist, Filex is not very good.

Are you saying there are foreigners who don’t respect what isn’t theirs?

Nothing new there.

Just like there was no covid because there no foreign tourists either.

But damn, how wrong you are, just trying to "stir" an imaginary pot, right?

Wow, anti foreigner.com on this story.

There is plenty of graffiti on the walls, desks etc where I work in Japan. All done by Japanese university students.

Hmm
