We've had it, folks. We had plenty of time to do something about it, but the people we voted for couldn't be arsed.

If you don't already have grandchildren, you're lucky in a way. If you don't already have children, don't have them.

If you have kids, tell them that you love them every day.

We could have changed this. we didn't. We're screwed.

We cannot afford capitalism anymore, or at corporate capitalism. All heat comes emissions. Thus, capitalism creates the pollution that will eventually kill millions of people--possibly all of us.

We started talking about the environment in the 1960s. I don't have much hope now. British PM Sunak to cancel environment program.

UK has ‘lost’ global climate leader status, say its own advisers.

And it will keep rising..

Records are being not just broken, but smashed almost on a daily basis (June average temperature, sea temperatures...)

Many of these events are relegated to regular, rather than headline news - part of the same problem - society in general is not treating the climate issue as the 'crisis' that it clearly is.

Didn't feel a thing. July 3rd was a warm balmy day here.

@Wallace. We were talking about climate change in the 60s. The big news then was the J. Murray Mitchell publication of 1963 demonstrating multidecadal cooling since 1940. This was followed by other authors predicting a new ice age.

Same here. We had the AC running, so it was actually quite comfortable. Scientists, eh, what do they know?

Big oil, big gas and big coal raise their glasses and jig around the boardrooms. "We did it," one cries out. "Yay! Now, let's see if we can make 18." "Let's get out our chequebooks, boys, and pull the wool over many more eyes," says another, "It's worked so far."

I didn't say climate change. Many of us spoke out about the environment. Like plastics in the oceans. Pollutions.

Thunberg’s tweet said: “A top climate scientist is warning that climate change will wipe out humanity unless we stop using fossil fuels over the next five years.”

Your "fact check" link doesn't refute that Thunberg actually said that.

That's because there is no refutation of it.

She DID say that.

Even your "fact check" link says so.

And it goes on to say this:

*Thunberg’s 2018 tweet did not say that humanity would be wiped out in five years, but rather that continued use of fossil fuels over the next five years would lead to human extinction at some point. The tweet was, moreover, quoting from an article and not her own words*.

So that means that according to Greta Thunberg, it's now too late.

According to her, we shouldn't bother discontinuing use of fossil fuels now.

We had our chance, so says she, but we've now blown it.

According to her, we've passed the five-year point at which discontinuing fossil fuels would be futile.

So, gas up, folks. Burn all the fossil fuels you want. According to Leading Climate Change Expert Greta Thunberg, it doesn't matter anymore. It's too late.

Based

I didn't deny anything. Thunberg is not a climate scientist. She is an activist and a very good one. She has alerted her generation to the problems of the climate and the environment. She isn't a hypocrite like many Hollywood stars and lives by what she believes. She has donated more than 1 million euros. Raised awareness in her generation.

What have you done?

Just another damp day here in Scotland on the third... wasn't even that warm. We had some nice hot weather in June... that was welcome after a damp spring...

Hmmmmm

First year since I've lived here that we got to july without using a/c. Don't believe everything you read, sky's always falling. Avoid the "news" a bit more and enjoy what you have.

Well, and then there is that :

"hottest day ever recorded"

When again did records start, and how old is the world ? They might have missed a few hot days in the past...

@Wallace. We were talking about climate change in the 60s. The big news then was the J. Murray Mitchell publication of 1963 demonstrating multidecadal cooling since 1940. This was followed by other authors predicting a new ice age.

This was contradicted at the time by many more scientists that clearly demonstrated the trend was towards warming, which is why the cooling prediction never gained traction in the general scientific cmmunity.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_cooling

By the 1970s, scientists were becoming increasingly aware that estimates of global temperatures showed cooling since 1945, as well as the possibility of large scale warming due to emissions of greenhouse gases. In the scientific papers which considered climate trends of the 21st century, less than 10% were inclined towards future cooling, while most papers predicted future warming.

This has never been a real argument against the models predicting climate change being correct.

Well, and then there is that :

A typical response when people can't do anything about the well validated methods and data that clearly show the effects of climate change, just go back half a century or more and pretend every prediction made was wrong, including some that were avoided precisely because humanity took action before it was too late or those that were debunked by the scientific community at the time for being inaccurate or plain wrong.

Then the Mitchell publication contradicts your "source." So it's even.

and what is my source?

There is no contradiction, as easily as you could not even quote it, this would be a clear baseless appeal.
