And Taiwan is already part of it, though now implicitly. Very encouraging development.

Posted in: Vietnam considers Japan top economic partner: vice president See in context

Some people are green with jealousy over this development. But the Vietnamese grudge against the Chinese goes back centuries and is deep, just like the Koreans' (including the Kims' in the north). Has to do with Chinese imperialism throughout the centuries and continuing to this day, some temporary recess during Mao's times notwithstanding. So the Vietnamese are making full use of the opportunity of the West now decoupling from China to take over its foreign investments which are now leaving China in droves. America let its First Island China go into disrepair but is now waking up, and so is re-lining up its traditional ally countries -- Korea, Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, Australia , etc, as well as its former enemies such as Vietnam, in a new First Island Chain to contain China. Healthy and exciting development.

China trolls chewing a lot of sour grapes hoping some of that money goes to its flood area victims (if any can be left before their corrupt officials' double, triple dip).

Posted in: Switzerland to lift Fukushima disaster import curbs on Japan foods See in context

China, HK and Macau governments are still banning JP food, but their top officials eat all kinds of imported JP food anyway, and their visitors to JP cannot have enough, Fukushima or not Fukushima. All that ban now is sheer politics. Chinese food anytime is worse than radioactive, so that is why Chinese leaders eat JP foods imported through a system known as Special Catering (特供系統). The trolls all know that, but since they are paid to spread lies, they shut up on that.

China is itching to donate too... but of course Chinese timber is inferior and likely espionage devices implanted haha!

Posted in: Japan opposition leader vows aid for Taiwan in boosting deterrence See in context

China trolls working ferociously... The money Japan can spend on Taiwan's defense can come from taxes paid by Japanese companies with profitable operations in China, so it is very good! The Osaka party is more forthright in anti-Chinese aggression and that is very good too -- it should replace the weakling other opposition party.

Do away everything and just provide incentives and materials for the kids to read, read and read. They can build other English abilities later based on their reading skills. Don't need that many policies or teachers.

Posted in: As Japan aligns with U.S. chip curbs on China, some in Tokyo feel uneasy See in context

CCP/China rightfully belongs to the stone age. Free nations should help it regain its position there. But first they have to fortify themselves, e.g., by ridding their media of Chinese botnets spreading pro-CCP propaganda.

Posted in: Top Chinese diplomat proposes talks with Japan, South Korea: report See in context

No point at all talking to China. It is in an economic doldrum, so even the greedy businesspeople are staying away. Politically, it deserves a full decoupling. Hands off Taiwan first before anyone should talk to China.

If govt don't do things there will be other complaints, probably by the same people. So doing something is OK and helping some young people to have kids is fine, just don't be too hopeful. New Zealand, not much smaller than Japan in land area, has a population below 6 million. Not a bad place to live. Japan can do ok with just half its current population. Its just that the transition is painful.

Japan soft landed on a small comet and brought back specimen. That's quite unique and probably harder to do than the moon stuff. China learned from the Soviet advisers and had US trained experts who returned to do the engineering (before most of them got into trouble during the Cultural Revolution).

Posted in: China dismisses criticism of Wang's comments appearing to push for race-based alliance See in context

Unfortunately, in much of Chinese culture, race is important. Forthe majority Han people, all the rest were barbarians. An exception was Confucius, who taught a value-based identity irrespective of physical characteristics, but he was smartly pushed aside by fakes during the Han Dynasty, and you have fakes manning the Confucius Institutes. Xi Jinping told Trump at the Beijing airport on the latter's visit in 2017 -- "Yellow skin, black hair, dark eyes, Descendants of the Dragon, for thousands of years....". Which unwittingly defined away the Uighurs who do not share the same characteristics. In China, Wang's comments are quite standard, especially but not limited to the ultra-nationalists. One should just stay away from China to not get insulted.

Wonderful development. But the trilateral talk should at least factor in the view of Taiwan which cannot formally be represented. The more Taiwan is bolstered, the better it can support the triple alliance by cutting off high tech and other trade with China and strengthening the First Island Chain.
