Masterful use of misinformation by Zelensky. The Russians have been preparing and quite jumpy about the upcoming counteroffensive, which has been repeated signalled by Kyiv.

Now they can relax, and that is when it will start.

Spring last until summer starts late next month. But Ukraine thinks summer is better, it will happen then. They need to move when they have the best chance to defeat the Russians.

A week ago the US and NATO allies were saying that well over 90% of the promised equipment, ammunition and vehicles had been delivered. Ukrainian forces have been busy blowing up Russian fuel storage, vehicle storage and attacking refineries, preparing the battle space. Now they say there is a delay in equipment. I suspect it is brain games kind of like last spring when they had everyone expecting a big push in the south only to advance in the east.

I was more than a little surprised to see the Brits give Ukraine Storm Shadow cruise missiles. That implies to me they have found a way to integrate them onto either their MiG-29s and / or SU-27s, no mean feat. An integration like that usually takes a couple of years to accomplish in peacetime but the Brits have some experience MacGyvering weapons on unexpected platforms during a war (in the Falklands) plus the US finagled HARM on the same aircraft in something like 45 days. Storm Shadow is much like JASSM, has a very potent 450 kg BROACH warhead and depending on the source a range of 300-500 km.

It is a lot less costly to help Ukraine defeat the Russians in Ukraine than to turn our backs on them. Every Dollar and Euro is money well spent. The lessons of WWII apply. The heap further abuse on the Kazakhs because the generation that has grown up since the fall of the USSR feels no affection for Russia, consider themselves Kazakhs and no longer speak Russian. The Russians are crying the Kazakhs are committing "genocide" against Russian speakers there as a potential justification to invade. The same sort of lies they used to justify their invasion of Ukraine. No, if Russia is not stopped in Ukraine then we face the NATO-Russia war nobody wants. Don't be penny wise and pound foolish.
