They still don't deserve the same pay as the men.

You'd be a riot at parties, Mr. Negative.

This world cup has been incredibly exciting, the Sweden v Spain game just finished provided yet more thrills. Was hoping the Swedes could send it to extra time. Great win by Spain!

I've loved every game I've been able to catch - and with record breaking attendances and viewing figures, it seems millions agree!

While I have no time or respect for the laughable cosplayers (and some thugs) in the pictures, ordinary Japanese people do have a right to quietly pray for their war dead. 99% of whom were not war criminals.

All nations have a right to - and all do - pray for the souls of their war dead - many of whom are civilians.

Japan's friends and allies - and there are certainly many - no longer require endless apologies about events that occurred 80 plus years ago. They know Japan is famously committed to peace, and is completely freedom-loving.

Japans adversaries - Communist China, fascist Russia and the Korea's, on the other hand - will insist on Japan being on her knees apologising forever. Tough luck - they're not going to get it under PM Kishida who is standing strong.

This maniac's name - Mohammed Arif. He was going from person to person (if they were Muslim) demanding that they stated they were a "Slave to Allah".

Terrifying for the passengers. Lock him away for many, many years please - and a total flight ban from all commercial carriers.

Unbelievable performance from Ohtani!

The Angels should pay whatever it takes to hang onto him - break every price record. On top, get Angels fans to chip in $100 each if necessary!

2 weeks later I also had a massive heart attack and developed an aneurysm.

Out of curiosity, what was your BMI at the time? Your lifestyle? Diet? Exercise (or lack of)? Family history of heart issues?

One or two events is not statistically significant.

cardiologist in Japan and my brother's in Canada both said not to get our covid booster shots, I Wonder why ?

Those with significant existing or recent health issues/events cannot be vaccinated for almost anything. That is likely why the specialist has advised as such.

Seems you are desperate to find some "conspiracy" where nothing exists.

NZ would be an absolutely horrible place to live nowadays due to their government policies and overreach.

Sad

Curious take.

Through a very large chunk of the covid years, stadia, pubs and restaurants in NZ were rocking - while people elsewhere faced restructuons and walked around in masks.

The nation is inundated with Visa applications to move there. They must have something right in NZ.

Not important to the despicable Kim dynasty I guess.

Loved sumo. Then I found out about gambling, corruption and fixed matches.

You could name any sport in the world- sadly all are affected by these. Gambling and match-fixing is chronic in sports like cricket, for example - and you'll find it in everything from table tennis to football.

Japan’s great charms: Sumo, wadaiko (taiko drumming), onsens (hot springs), and exceptional food offerings.

Worlds best whisky; Japanese sake; geisha; best powder snow and skiing on earth...the list is certainly endless!

Sumo is fantastic - particularly if someone else is paying for your box at the basho! Unique discipline that every visitor to Japan should experience - and will definitely continue to rise in popularity with foreigners.

Bayern have won 11 consecutive titles in the Bundesliga. Now with Kane - the richest transfer in German history - if they don't make it 12 in a row, it will be seen as an enormous failure.

All the very best to Harry Kane and the men from Munich this season. If anyone deserves to hoist a trophy, it is Harry.

I DO take objection to the fact that she is even REMOTELY smiling in this apparent interview.

There is nothing to be smiling about.

So, she should always maintain a scowl on her face because she has seen such tragedy?

Filipinas are naturally smiling and cheerful looking - even those who have been through or seen life's horrors.

Top job by The Lionesses! They were finally able to display the fluency and threat we all saw last year at the Euros. Really well done. Alessia Russo is class - and her attack will be one for the Matildas to work on before next Wednesday.

Commiserations to the Colombian ladies who enjoyed an enormous, roaring contingent of expat support in the Olympic Stadium. They have announced themselves as contenders in international football. Linda Caicedo, at 18, is a generational talent who is destined to become a superstar.

Matildas v Lionesses on Wednesday night - a mouthwatering match-up! Set your calendars!

Amazing game - hats off to the victorious Matildas as well as the beaten Les Bleues! The Matildas probably should have put the game away in regular time with a near open goal, but Fowler's effort was stopped brilliantly by a French defender.

Games are always a toss of the coin when it goes to PK. The Aussies held their nerves - and with Kerr back and the likes of Fowler and Foord in great form - as well as a very good defense - now have every chance of hoisting that Cup!

Over to The Lionesses and Colombian ladies to find their rival...

Young Lauren James will learn from this. While it was not malicious - and her opponent vouched for this - you cannot be putting your foot on an opponent. She could consider herself lucky she didn't get the 3 game penalty as others have after seeing red.

If England do make the final, I look forward to seeing James' exquisite talents on show.

As for tonight, I feel the Lionesses will be too strong for Colombia - but in this WC - anything can happen! Good luck to both teams, I can barely wait!

Posted in: Japan coach tells team to 'be proud' after World Cup exit See in context

Nadeshiko Japan absolutely should be proud of how they played on the world stage with such a young team!

Almost no one gave them a hope before the Cup began - but the way they played on the break, their defense was outstanding, and they looked a threat in all games - and had them as many neutrals favorite team to watch.

The first 70 minutes against a superb Sweden team they were well contained and second best - but there is plenty to be hopeful about heading into Paris '24 and the '27 World Cup!

An absolute heart-in-mouth emotional rollercoaster!

Hats off to the Swedish ladies. Dominant from the kick off. Nadeshiko sadly seemed to be overawed by the occasion until the dying moments, couldn't thread the ball and were ineffective on the break, unlike previous games. The missed penalty was gutting. You simply cannot miss a gift like that.

Consolations, Japan. They have provided great memories over the past 2 weeks - and with such a young squad, will be better for the experience in '27.

Big up to the NZ crowds who roared Japan on all the way!

The Swedes will bring physicality and height - plus a keeper who has been out of this world! Super tough defense to crack, just like the Japanese.

Nadeshiko Japan will bring "total football" - speed and technical excellence - and the ability to attack on the break. Along with the Swedes, the best defenders in the tournament. And the brilliant Miyazawa, who could be the difference.

With a 4:30pm JST kick off, I'd hope most Japanese bosses will be giving their staff an early mark this afternoon! The sports bars, pubs and izakaya will be absolutely roaring!
