4 indictments.

NYC. Business fraud related to paying off a porn actress hush money.

Florida. Jack Smith prosecuting for mishandling confidential documents.

Washington. For Trump's leader role in the insurrection and feeding a frenzy to threaten congress, Pence and our democracy.

Atlanta. For attempting to overturn the election result.

If nothing else, this:

This PAC has become the primary vehicle to pay legal bills for Trump and his associates, and FEC reports show it and five other Trump-related committees have spent more than $40 million in legal fees since the beginning of 2021, the Post reported. These hefty costs may explain why Trump was lashing out Saturday on his social media platform Truth Social for the “vast” legal fees he has spent — which he blames on the “Lunatic Left.”

A ton of proof under RICO in the most recent indictment in Atlanta and the kicker is, even if Trump is elected president, he cannot pardon himself as this one is not a federal case, it is a state one. This one could well be the tax evasion equivalent for Capone.

Trump is scrambling. He's running the wheel in the hamster cage. He's the mouse cornered by the big cat in Willis. Yes, she's after him for his racism and lack of human qualities as a crime boss, and she'll get him.

The judge is bias. She is black! No fair.

The funny thing about alternative truths is that as much as MAGA wants to believe whichever truth they want, the only person who's truth matters is the judge.

No amount of silly narrative and cherry picking of MAGA and Trump is going to work. He'll be convicted, shown to be, along with Nixon, another GOP criminal. Freedumb of speech certainly describes Trump and MAGA. very good, EFD.

Chutkin is a great judge, and very fair. If she says Trump is not guilty, I'd believe her. We shall see how it goes.

ROFL. Trump will be found guilty! Start the riots, MAGA, please don't kill more policeman or threaten our democracy. I know it'll be a stretch, but try to use a little constraint.

Highest world talent in Premier League shown by Red/Blue. Not the best game for either side, but first game definitely shaking off the rust with decent command. It was an entertaining game and a fine showing to start the season.

Hoping all the disinformation types don't go spewing more fallacious wrongs. 'hope'.

Something went wrong if there was no siren. No warnings. There will be an investigation and when we hear the results, there will be more controversy and conspiracy theory types will say it is a cover up. It's predictable because of cherry picking and narratives go round in circles.

people should just wait before speaking of things that make no sense, and must have heard from some narrative laden network to say something one sided as silly as firefighters were elsewhere, as if no one cared in Hawaii to try and alleviate a horrible situation. Those accusations are part of the denial and anger toward something that has nothing to do with actual issue of the fire. There is no need to blame anyone, at this point.

There is still a lot of rubble work being done as a priority, as it should be. It's such a tragedy, we don't need false information and truthers being disingenuous.

Heart breaking, for sure. The banyan tree is the symbol of hope and resilience, and people in Maui love their island and will work together to build.

The story of the man dying covering his dog is one of tragedy, but shows a man who's love and respect for his dog, is at once sad and enlightening. RIP to Mr. Trejos, his dog and the many people who lost their lives.

The blaming and lack of empathy being shown by some posts here is unfortunate. There are people in Hawaii suffering, and you seemingly revel in blame and stupid comments.

Conservatives supporting Russia because they're upset with liberals is MAGA ridiculous. Go fascism and dictatorial governments over democracy is their cry. Traitors to their own country. This is a truth. Polarization on this issue by MAGA is completely irrelevant to what is happening to Ukraine, it's not about the two war foes, it's about MAGA narrative.

Admit it conservatives, you're not being patriots by rooting on Putin. It's not arguable, it's factual by critical thought, taking into account what is being said by the MAGA cult.

MAGA people don't care for America, only their cherry picked interpretation of their America and it's a narrative that follows much closer to a dictatorial government like Putin's, who's attack on Ukraine you support, over American democracy.

MAGA loves Putin over the US constitution. Quit using the American flag as if it is yours, start waving the Russian one. or the Nazi one. It's who you are.

When the US lost. Half of the US was happy.

No such thing as woke, it's a creation to call all awareness a label. A name call by the Trump types.

They were all upset by Rapinoe's stand against Trump and his followers who have a great deal of bias against her and the US women's team, made up of people who are caring and strong individuals, who refused to go to the White House in his administration because of poor human rights policies.

Trump picks on Rapinoe, but in truth, he dislikes all of Tobin Heath, Cristine Presse, Carli Lloyd, Rose Lavelle, etc. The sad right polarizes against anything fair in human rights issues and shows their pettiness everyday. Megan Kelly, get a life. Wow, what a sorry individual.

As the World Cup shows, football results can turn on a dime. A different day, and Japan wins. Who scores first is a big deal. There are so many factors leading to a team winning or losing and sometimes a team that wins a game, perhaps they were outplayed, goes on thru to a championship.

Sweden looked the weaker wide vs. the USA, but won in a shoot out, certainly the Americans had the upper hand and looked very much in control of a win. Things can turn quickly, and the USA was out. Sweden in, and on this day, they played a stronger game than Japan, which was touted as the best team in the WC based on group play and a first round knockout stage win.

Ultimately, it was not a surprised Japan lost. They showed up, played well and were the darlings of the WC. Great for the team and Japan. Sweden goes on. They were good, but anyone who watched the USA game knows how they were not in possession of the ball, and fortunate the USA could not finish. So goes football. Any team left can raise the WC.

Posted in: How did Hawaii wildfires start? What to know about Maui and Big Island blazes See in context

“Blaming this on weather and climate is misleading," said Clay Trauernicht, a University of Hawaii at Manoa professor and environmental management expert. "Hawai'i's fire problem is due to the vast areas of unmanaged, nonnative grasslands from decades of declining agriculture."

He does not dismiss global warming nor the hurricane, but is quoted as someone who knows the area hasn't been managed well, and is likely, as based in Hawaii, had past frustration with people who did not listen to his warnings concerning declining agricultural upkeep.

It's a somewhat cherry picked quotation, and I would think he does believe global warming and the hurricane most certainly exacerbated the drying of the grasslands. And not for flat earthers: global warming does exist and it is created by humans.

Posted in: Sweden stakes claim as Women's World Cup favorite by stopping Japan 2-1 in quarterfinals See in context

Kudos to the Swedes.

Japan hadn't gotten behind in a game, and it was possibly going to be a factor if they fell behind, and when they did, they couldn't find a way to dominate as they had against prior competition.

A great effort by Japan thru this WC, one where there are a lot of evenly matched teams. Every quarter final game could and can go either way.

One fun World Cup to watch as the favorites drops out and there will be a new women's WC champion! My hope is it is Colombia. Go Linda!!

with Hurricane Dora being a main factor in the high winds that propelled across Maui.

No. Global warming by humans is the main factor. Winds exacerbate to spread fire, but the reason it happened is global warming caused drying of the area that would not have happened even 10 year ago.

If people cannot deal with the science because they're incapable of reading all the information, they should quit finding the wrong cherry picked narrative to blame a hurricane for the fire itself. The brush was dried by global warming.

Human-caused climate change, driven by fossil fuel use, is increasing the frequency and intensity of such extreme weather events, scientists say, having long warned that countries must slash emissions to prevent climate catastrophe.

The speed of the raging fire is hard to fathom. Winds from a latent hurricane whipped winds, and the human causation of global warming was the definitive factor which dried out Maui as Lahaina, a wonderful resort town...one of the best on the planet...to burn down. :(

People caught in the fire who died were many. What a travesty. From an idyllic place to hell in a moment.

Global warming sucks and it's real.

So, basically Biden has shut America's businesses out of the country that is dominating innovation in high tech.

This is untrue. In an aggregate ranking of most advanced technological countries, something subjective with no true standard, 10 sources were used and the rankings ended up with Japan, USA, South Korea and Germany top 4 with China at no. 9.

Posted in: Biden issues an executive order restricting U.S. investments in Chinese technology See in context

Pressuring China with technological and economic pressure is a good plan by Biden.

His alliance enforcement, by making as many friends as possible within Asia and Australia strengthening relationships does stifle the Chinese economy. A reason why going to Vietnam is a good thing, as well.

Diplomacy in democracy govt. nations is prioritized with good communication, not the USA being isolated and jingoistic. The international allies all need to realize nationalism is a conservative roadblock to better relations and understanding. Cultural understanding should be open minded and fair, with qualities of humanity being a true factor, which leads to perceptive empathy, and lesser bias promoted from nationalism.

For America not to be kissing up to the dictatorial types is refreshing, as Biden takes a stand. For awhile there, the dictator wannabe was prioritizing self interest over democracy, and not just talking gold showers in Moscow, smooching Putin's butt at the same time.

Things are changing for the better with Biden, absolutely.

The biggest difference between the men and women's game? Men dive ubiquitously. They're crying all the time and game stops with the slightest touch.

The women rarely fake it, there are less ticky tack calls, and there's real eye rolling by the women when another does dive because there is genuine concern and sportsmanship among the women and they don't care for false hurt.

Good on Biden to visit Vietnam.

Blacklabel: for all your whining against democracy, and hate on anything Biden or a non MAGA does, I do question 100% why you just don't understand you are a non supporter of the US constitution(by way of support for the insurrection and Trump) and do not care if something is good for the country.

You root for America's defeat and hate the president going to Vietnam? It's complete bias on your part and nothing that actually makes any sense, but we're used to it. It's silly, but that can't be helped, I guess...

Much like the idiotic Megan Kelly and Trump, rooting against the USA in the World Cup, ya'll care more for a fascist government than improved state of democracy and human rights in the USA. Vietnam is a positive trip for Biden and the United States.

You absolutely do not believe in democracy, it's really silly to deny it.
