Sounds a bit different to the origins story I remember (don’t think Sun Wukong was much of a hero before his redemptive Journey to the West. The animated film “大闹天宫” from the 1960s is worth a watch to see his classic origins story brought to the screen. New film looks pretty fun too and Stephen Chow has done some good stuff (but where is “Kung Fu Hustle 2”?!).
