On August 15 and 16, some Japanese soldiers, devastated by the surrender, committed suicide. Well over 100 American prisoners of war were also murdered. In addition, many Australian and British prisoners of war were murdered in Borneo, at both Ranau and Sandakan, by the Imperial Japanese Army. At Batu Lintang camp, also in Borneo, death orders were found which proposed the murder of some 2,000 POWs and civilian internees on September 15, 1945, but the camp was liberated four days before these orders were due to be carried out.

I'm thinking of those unfortunate souls today.

Women are more likely than men to seek medical care and prescription drugs for migraines.

There's the reason for the disparity, then.

Bridging the gender gap in migraine research not only empowers women...

Where the hell did that come from?

If people have seen the movie, let them criticise it. Free speech works for all parts of the political spectrum, even though the overly-loud minority make that hard to believe. Likewise, if you haven't seen the movie, don't presume to defend it.

How about providing infrastructure, hospitals, medicine, agricultural capabilities and FOOD for your people first, little Rocket Man? You know, the things all responsible governments are supposed to do.

> Not important to the despicable Kim dynasty I guess.

Interesting. When I made a similar comment in a recent article about Japanese military expenditure, my post was deleted as 'off-topic'. Is that, like, censorship?

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has called for an increase in missile production to help secure "overwhelming military power" and be ready for war

But when Japan does it, it is called 'defence expenditure' and is no problem. Until we get to nuclear ... then suddenly it's all bad.

I mean, if he was interested in that, "X" wouldn't be a cesspool of nazis, xenophobes and misogynists.

Is it really or is this the usual leftist hyperbole? Would love to hear from people who actually use it.

Hard to respect a country that hates love.

Love? Seriously? This was a largely unknown band trying to be edgy and failing miserably by deliberately breaking the country’s rules. Embarrassing, really. Just stick to music.

@ Desert Tortoise

Thanks for your long, thought-out reply. I know what you are saying and I agree, as long as you are not promoting censorship. What you call 'haters' is directed at right-wing thought, and that is not by definition 'hate'. That a social media site allows all viewpoints is how it should be. If advertisers see that as a bad thing, then their motives need to be addressed.

Well done England! Colombia did really well. Not so keen on their fans booing in the stadium though, that's really not the spirit of Women's Football.

But OK in Men's football?

I can't get my head around England winning a penalty shoot-out; though it was kind of by default

Kind of by default?

So not by default?

Interesting expression.

Not that hard to understand the meaning. Whether we won by default is open to interpretation - but we won because we missed less penalties than the other side.
