My apologies. I exaggerated and didn't their shyness into account... Why don't you ask them some questions like good local places to visit pretending a foreign tourist. The whole point is in such places, TGIF just an example, people are actually expecting a chance to have English conversations and don't mind being talked to by foreign weirdos out of the blue.

Why don't you use your privilege off line?

If you're a western woman just go to places where englishwashed Japanese often gather such as TGIF. High chance to be spoken by Japanese men in English. If you're a western man hit girls anyway and push push push. Japanese women are easily impressed by your muscularity and may think it's not a bad idea to show off a tall English speaking boyfriend to her friends. If you're non westerners give up.

@TaiwanIsNotChina

Yeah! That's the spirit of the war and diametrically opposite to that of sports.

Suppose a new worker comes to your workplace, who's Russian and greeted you, but your Ukrainian colleague gives him the middle finger. I would not want to work in such a place where that is considered the right thing to do.

I praise the judge who disqualified her according the rule.

I definitely admire more a sports athlete who shows respect to her opponents no matter who they are or what the game result was than one that changes her attitude depending on the opponents. Those people look more matured.

And that would be the reason behind that "must shake hands"rule.

If the number of flags returned alone is "500," I'm wondering how many flags were actually stolen from the dead bodies..

Though it's unimaginable mental conditions in the battle field, It's a disgusting habit that taking off clothes, groping dead body and returning something home and they actually exhibit it...gross

Some people still believe that Japan's research capabilities are among the best in the world and simply not working well because of poor political decisions and business practices. That's already a myth.

In years (or already) Japan will have to steal Chinese technologies to catch up with the rest of the world.

"should never happen" the general said.

But shooting other members on purpose is not the first time in the SDF. As far as taking a live round it's impossible to prevent the disaster by rules only. The ultimate solution is building a good and trustable relationship, which is getting more and more difficult recently.

kpop is not my taste but I praise their marketing and of course hard training. The Japanese who can't believe their global success and still believe some conspiracies should think of Michael Jackson. I found kpop idols are pretty like him: thin feminine appearance with bold confidence, exotic makeup, sharp dancing. That's why even westerners can appreciate them. Unfortunately the Otaku oriented jpop idols have no chance to get as popular as them.

@Desert Tortoise

Yeah that's included in the electrolyzing. My point is why don't you just use that electricity directly. Any conversion entails loses...

@What ol' Jack Burton always says

Of course there are tons of chemical compounds that have H in them. Industry wise however it should be collected efficiently and pay off. Those are limited to only a few.

I believe hydrogen would be in demand for airliners which cannot use electric motors but most of candidates for hydrogen consumers would eventually use electricity when a high dense battery is developed. that's a matter of time.

Posted in: Japan earmarks ¥15 tril for developing hydrogen energy to cut emissions See in context

To my knowledge there are only two methods to produce hydrogen in industry: burning fossil fuels or electrolyzing water. You see how contradictory they are to be green or to save energy. Since Japanese politicians are composed mainly of non science majors, they don't even know basic physics

Of course this survey didn't mean anything for JR. From the beginning their target has been only salary men whose fare is covered by companies, not families let alone foreigners. That's why there's no luggage or stroller storage in the car. If you don't like buying the ticket, they are happy to recommend taking a bus or taxi, or go home.

At least Japan should draw the line more seriously. We see "sexy actresses" who are just porn stars on TV shows and comedians and anchors refer quite sexual stuff normally on prime time TV. This custom makes people think sexual talks and behavior just fun and not offending.

Another reason from author's point of view is easiness. You don't have to do preliminary research that usually requires a lot of effort. All you need to write this gene would be just playing online games.

Since publishers happily accept this kind of works a lot, more and more would-be artists are slacking off. I believe this is the beginning of the fall of the Japanese manga brand.

According to Tepco, the contaminations other than tritium are all removed by the ALPS. In that sense the released water is comparable to that other countries have released so far. That's their theory... I don't want to doubt about it... The release would continue for 100 years. We will see if they are right...

Posted in: Japan's crackdown on truck driver overtime raises fears of economic breakdown See in context

Why only for truck driver

The rules to limit overtime work have already been in effect. Today salarymen cannot really work overtime longer than 60 hours a month.

The problem is that the workload is unchanged. You see now they need to make it by working overtime secretly without overtime pay. Only companies are happy with reducing extra overtime payment and the gov is satisfied with nominally reduced labor hours.

Here they go again.
