Posted in: Thinking of buying a new pair of jeans? Breaking down the cost over time might help you decide See in context

The 36-year-old brand director for an advertising firm calculates the cost-per-wear of his wardrobe by highlighting 200 items in a spreadsheet — excluding underwear and socks — and meticulously listing the price he paid for each of them as well as how many times he's worn it.

What a waste of time. I generally estimate how long something should last but would never spend my time daily doing the above.

I have two Uniqlo flannel shirts that've lasted 27 years and a jacket for over 20. Then, I have some clothes that have lasted just a few years as expected. That's enough information for me.

If I were homeless living under the bridges in Ueno, I'd be taking periodic dips into the Sumida River to cool off. Ain't the cleanest river but beats getting heat stroke or exhaustion.

I vote to divert the 7,000,000,000,000 yen they're spending on defense next year to cancer research to find cures or effective treatments.

This doctor has a heart of gold. Put him on TV and get rid of all those yelling "talentos".

They're really scraping the bottom of the barrel with this next one.

I'm sure millions are going empty their wallets for this new moved-end-call button advancement.

Posted in: One giant step: Moon race hots up See in context

I couldn't care less if they put people on the moon again.

These countries can go ahead and spend billions of dollars of much needed money on their need to feed their state ego rather than the people of their nations for their immediate humanitarian and quality of life needs.

I look at the moon in the night sky and feel the power and the beauty of it on my evening walks. No need for people to be walking on it.

The could actually make it easier on the kids and fans of the Koshien tournament. Scheduling it around the hottest part of the day can easily be done.

They could move one game to early in the morning from 7-9, then 9-11 and next games in the evening with one from about 5-7 and the last from the about 7-9.

Otherwise all this advice about heat stroke prevention is just lip service.

Back in the day, we used to all think a guy singing about pineapples, pens, apples, and pineapples was just the greatest thing.

No, I didn't.

Premium Friday was just another idea by incompetent and overpaid public sector heads.

It had to be pushed on to all or most companies in order for it to work.

And just think, they're going to get one of the biggest pay raises in 26 years, according another JT article.

I remember when the Shinkansen had dining cars.

Wow, you've been here awhile! I remember them back from a long time ago too. I wasn't sure if it was just my imagination since I was just a kid.

I think Amtrak still has dining cars, which I love. But with Amtrak, you really need them since you'll probably be twelve hours behind schedule and starving.
