'Men Behaving Badly', 'Fawlty Towers', 'Allo, Allo', 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum', faithful adaptations of classic novels, Carry On movies, Mel Brooks movies. Pretty much everything I enjoyed in the 80s, including earlier shows like 'I Dream of Jeannie', 'Tarzan' and 'Bewitched'. But that's OK. Most of it is available on DVD. And thankfully, we now have Kdrama, which is blissfully good.
Bottom: pure lowbrow comedy gold not tempered with schmaltz, family values or anything acceptable. Loved that show.
It’s been a good long time since I’ve watched TV, but do they still make comedy sketch shows? I remember shows like “The Fast Show”, “Harry Enfield’s Television Programme” and “Naked Video” from back in the day, but haven’t seen or heard of anything recent.
Pretty much everything pre-2020 insert whatever you like.
Also, and because of the messed up social neutered world we live in now, everything is either taboo or off topic or racist, homo or transphobic, comedy is all but dead, political correctness run amok, everything is scrutinized by the PC police or canceled, it will be harder to make decent movies in any genre unless either China or the people in the grievance industry approve of it. Who would want to watch anything? Once they went after Bugs Bunny and Dr. Suess you kind of knew that it’s over fun and entertainment.
Even shows like SNL, Martin or MAD TV, Married with Children, Gilligan’s Island, Charlie’s Angels as well just wouldn’t make the cut these days.
Any children's show in the UK that doesn't have at least one ethnic minority presenter, one effeminate gay and one with an arm missing or in a wheel chair.
The original Twilight Zone was a masterpiece; completely different cast and plot every show. The Munsters, Mr. Ed, Green Acres, The Honeymooners, I Dream of Jeannie, Sanford and Son. Funny shows on regular TV where they didn't need crude language or sexual innuendo to make situations funny.
If we're talking Japanese stuff, I'd say Drifters (Showa era comedy troupe): actually well-written and well-acted sketches. Very dated now, but a style of comedy that is mostly not even attempted these days due the work/skill required.
These days, the "comedy" mostly consists of minimally-talented geinoujin, who think that shouting in mock surprise/offense is the height of entertainment, and even less talented boy/girl band members.
(Yes, manzai does require some writing/acting ability, but it's mostly very generic and simple, and not at all entertaining unless you're Japanese and have never seen any better comedy.)
And thankfully, we now have Kdrama, which is blissfully good.

The popularity of K-dramas really is shocking. They are simply awful. Did someone in Japan think "We don't have enough terrible dramas domestically... let's import some more?" (See also: boy/girl bands.)

Reeves and Mortimer,Blackadder,Alas Smith and Jones,Big Train,The Crystal Maze(with O'Brien),Drop the Dead Donkey,Brass Eye for weekday comedy.
Stopped watching telly regularly after starting uni in '92,then stationed overseas mostly ever since.
Funniest memory is watching Baywatch on an ancient Sony TV in a Buddhist monastery in eastern Tibet with fifty hardened Khampa guerilla fighters.
I love kdrama. Just enjoyed 'Dr. Cha'. All shows won't appeal to all people.. There is a reason why kdrama is so popular. Nobody is forcing you to watch it. Enjoy watching whatever you want to. There is plenty out there.
Sadly, Doctor Who. Although they still crank out half a dozen tedious baffling episodes every couple of years, it's preachy convoluted garbage instead of "Doctor lands, something's weird, Doctor finds out what's afoot and sorts it out with his wits, then buggers off somewhere else" every week for six months of the year.
Movies peaked in the 90s in my opinion. They were made with entertainment in mind and didn't rely heavily on special effects, green screens and CGI. They also weren't trying to push an agenda or use it as a PSA. Cartoons were also great in the 80s and 90s - 90s Cartoon Network was aces.
