She was probably afraid he was going to marry the doll and not her.

Not really an adequate excuse. Luckily, the area was not crowded or there could easily have been many more injuries and likely deaths. Hopefully he’ll get the psychiatric help he needs, but it’s not likely.

There is a lot more to this incident than this article states. The Australian media reports are pointing the finger at her for purposely poisoning her in-laws.

Posted in: World must 'wake up' to Taiwan security threats: Japan ex-PM Aso See in context

The first sentence of the first comment gave me a good laugh.

Aso was not a good PM. He is just a grumpy and senile old man who would not care if he lead Japan into an international conflict because he would not be around to see the results. Japan desperately needs some young an educated minds in politics instead of all these grumpy old men who gained their position through inheritance. Japan is supposed to be a democracy. Bwahaha!

The red stampers need more money. It’s exhausting work running around the office looking for a specific piece of recycled paper and then chasing up three red stamps for it.

Posted in: Woman arrested after decaying body of 94-year-old mother found at home See in context

It’s sad that in a country that boasts about being rich and caring for the elderly that this can happen. A woman in her seventies was full time carer for her ailing parents. One parent died and she had no funds for a funeral and left her to rot for a month.

More apologies! I’m sure everyone is getting very tired of hearing Japanese PMs apologize for their inadequacies. Instead of apologizing they should just fix it! That is why they have the top job. Get your finger out of your butt and do your job!

Posted in: 6-year-old boy wakes up to find his parents dead in the house See in context

Gladly the kid wasn’t a victim although, the life for an orphan in Japan is not a walk in the park with virtually no fostering and financially exclusive adoption. This poor kid is gonna spend the next fifteen years getting bounced in and out of orphanages. Hopefully his parents had life insurance so he will be financially secure. Japan is one of the few countries that pays life insurance for suicide.

Posted in: Japan considering restricting senior citizens’ access to ATMs See in context

It is only a small percentage of the 30 million odd seniors who are getting scammed. A more active approach to education and awareness would be better than setting up restrictions that will effect everybody over 65.

Posted in: Sapporo's faltering 2030 Winter Olympic bid victim of Tokyo Games scandals See in context

Many people knew as soon as Tokyo was awarded the Olympics it would be conducted with under the table deals and mate’s rates. It is how Japan works. There were many smaller companies who went bankrupt because of the covid delay, but that didn’t affect the fat cats who had their bid rigging and bribes already in play. The unscrupulously obtained funds from these scammers should be distributed to the little guys who went bankrupt. No doubt that if Hokkaido is awarded the games it will be a repeat of the same bid rigging and bribes from the same companies.

Posted in: Japan records steepest population decline while number of foreign residents hits new high See in context

Whenever people see foreigners mentioned in Japan they straight away think they are European Caucasian. The fact is, the vast majority of foreigners in Japan are from other Asian countries including India. Of course the largest number are Chinese. The break down of nationalities should be mentioned in this article. It should also be noted that the vast majority of foreigners living in Japan are low income earners most are doing jobs the Japanese don’t want to do, farming and health care. This is also part of the reason people have stopped having babies. They cannot see a secure future for children. Japans immediate future is very dark.

Posted in: Regulators begin final safety inspection before treated Fukushima wastewater is released into sea See in context

Some scientists say the impact of long-term, low-dose exposure to radionuclides is unknown and the release should be delayed.

Some scientists? That should be, many scientists!

They have been sitting in their hands for over a decade knowing full well this water was building up to a point where the only option is to dump it into the sea. What if they are wrong and this destroys the east coast fish populations and the fishery that is supported by it? It will create an environmental disaster on a scale never seen before.

This will go a long way to preventing unwanted pregnancies and newborn babies ending up in garbage bins, flushed down toilets, buried in parks and left in train lockers. It should also prevent a lot of child abuse caused by resentment of an unwanted pregnancy.

Posted in: TEPCO says equipment to release treated wastewater into sea is complete See in context

about a thousand tanks at the plant must be removed to prevent any accidental leak

This statement is concerning. If this water is safe to release into the environment why are they worried about an accidental leak? There is definitely a lot more going on than what us being released to the public. Let’s face it, it wouldn’t be the first time Japan attempted to cover up an environmental disaster.

Posted in: 13-year-old boy drowns while trying to save sister in river See in context

He died a hero trying to save his sister. Kids in Japan need a lot more swim and water safety training. There are so many rivers and beaches in Japan swimming should be a major part of a child’s education. A requirement for graduating elementary (primary) school in Australia is to be able to tread water for five minutes and swim 50 meters.
