Desert Tortoise

Right on. I wonder how many passengers come down with the Double Dragon on average each cruise...?

Saw it at the cinema the other day and I'm still trying to work out what I was supposed to take away from it. It was definitely a different experience to all of the other beloved Miyazaki films...

Am I the only one who feels that speed limits in Japan, across the board but especially on expressways, are just too slow? Japan has some of the best maintained roadways but has ridiculously low speed limits. 120 on the expressways is absolutely reasonable.

Capital punishment absolutely is the only correct and humane course of action in many situations.

How ironic. Capital punishment is the very manifestation of inhumanity.

What idiots. Protesting oil while wearing clothing, glasses, and shoes made with oil, scattering confetti made of oil, and having traveled to the venue using transportation made possible with oil.

When woven carbon fiber fails it doesn't bend, tear, or crumple. It shatters. The submersible's implosion was instantaneous as were the deaths of its passengers.

It wasn't explosive decompression like in the oil rog incident you linked. When a submarine is crushed at depth, it's implosion or explosive compression.

Again, why hasn't the shooter been identified by name? He may still be in training but he became a public servant the moment he enlisted and took the oath of service. Regardless of his age the public is entitled to the information.

Posted in: Company president, 2 drivers arrested after trucks tailgated other vehicles to avoid paying road tolls See in context

So what is the charge for which they've been arrested? Following too closely is naturally a punishable road law violation, but since you're not required to leave a specified interval between you and the vehicle in front of you when going through an ETC checkpoint nor does the gate/arm have to close between vehicles, aside from a confession how would they prove that this was intentionally done? Of course this company abused the limitations of the ETC system, but I'd think that the evidence would be mostly circumstantial from a purely legal standpoint.

Why isn't the "recruit" named? He's an adult and a government employee so there should be no privacy related reasons why he isn't identified by name.

And Verstappen is talented, but an ass. He is never going to bring in viewers just because he has the fastest car and the best driver. Too many don't like him. If Hitler were a driver, he'd look a lot like Verstappen.

Except he is liked and popular. If not the most popular and entertaining, he's absolutely in the top three or give currently on the grid, and that's since 2021 to boot. But, racing isn't a popularity contest and frankly, I personally like his driving style. He's ruthless and can be expected to drive aggressively every time to ensure points and that's what I'd expect from any driver.

Last minute changes (weight limits, tire warmers) were made without enough prior communication or consent of the manufactures and in this case Ferrari (and others) benefited and Toyota were penalized. It's a shame that once again the FIA and ACO's questionable meddling influenced if not decided the race outcome. Good news for Ferrari though, seeing as how they're woefully under-performing in F1.

No, in contrary, that somehow famous (?) person solely is responsible when using a credit card in public or when leaving the printed receipts unattended.

Uh, no. The business has as much if not more responsibility to safeguard a customer's personal information made available to them during the business transaction and certainly refrain from using it without consent for any other purpose, especially something as stupid and unacceptable as one of its employees publicizing it for personal gain.

We'll never know what the outcome would have been had Rooney not been banned from playing in this match for previously swearing on camera. Of course the FA doesn't care that Haaland did the same just last week...

I think many of you are overlooking the fact that what the DPRK is so kindly forewarning Japan it is about to, i.e. a development and testing of ballistic missile technology, has been prohibited by the UN Security Council for the better part of the past two decades. Let's start there before you congratulate the Dear Leader of being a considerate neighbor.

Bird strike on the nose. Nose cone completely collapsed with damage to the weather radar contained inside and pitot tubes located nearby. Must have been a sizeable bird to do that much damage.
