The TV show In Living Color would be a very different show in the 2020s.

Paul....went through the same large B lymphoma about 6 years ago. 6 rounds of RCHOP. Side effects were really not that bad at all....got lucky that shape of my head is reasonable. Complete remission. Getting blood work check-ups every 4-6 months and an imaging fluid infusion CT-scan once a year (kinda like those actually). Best of luck to you.

Dodgers have deep pockets to afford Ohtani and are in dire need of a stable pitcher; Mays done for the year, Urias hasn’t been what he was last year and the bullpen is flaky.

With Trout now out for the next 4-8 weeks, the Angels chances of making the playoffs and thereby possibly keeping Ohtani just dropped further,

Posted in: Japan to allow sale of 'morning-after pills' without prescription on trial basis See in context

The beer machine down the street from my place does not have such an age-verification feature. And don't try to change the argument.

Do you actually think kids are rocking up to the register at the local Welcia thinking "I bet the new morning after pill tastes just like Papico"?

Is your real agenda "Won't somebody think of the children" or you are just anti-abortion?

Grilledham&cheeseToday  06:42 pm JST

Kids can buy alcohol from vending machines here

Actually they can’t. The machines that sell beer require a special card you must buy at the convenience store.

So you think children having access to alcohol is ok as well?

I mean all they had to do to solve this multi year worldwide mystery that no one could definitively solve was to ask a random guy on Japan Today with a random dissertation long ago that relates to COVID-(20)19.

Just pointing your finger and saying "Like you trust the (insert target group here)" is worth nothing.

Posting two articles and calling it "proof," as you have done -- even when the articles themselves admit that the precise causes of the COVID outbreak are not fully clear -- is worth just as much.

Blacklabel,

Those are books which make up generally first year graduate studies in evolution, ecology and population genetics. So much for being on the same level.

An understanding of the concepts presented in those books along with the ability to distinguish artefacts (GXE interaction, maternal effects, unintended selection pressures, lack of replication, etc) which confound results obtained through experimentation is essential before you could look at data or primary publications and make a reasonable determination of the robustness of the results.

Posted in: U.S. intelligence report on COVID-19 origins rejects some points raised by lab leak theory proponents See in context

I should have said this in the prior post.

Blacklabel, if you want to prove a conspiracy, you have to use the scientific evidence which proves there was a lab leak and disprove the alternative hypotheses (recombination, etc). So, please do your best to try to understand the articles I posted above,

Just pointing your finger and saying "Like you trust the (insert target group here)" is worth nothing.

Posted in: Ukraine says counteroffensive delayed; Britain sending cruise missiles to Kyiv See in context

Spring, when a man's heart turns to offensives against invaders.

In an earlier message on Thursday Prigozhin said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy was "being deceptive" when he said Ukraine's anticipated counteroffensive had been delayed because it was waiting for more aid from foreign countries.

He said the counteroffensive was actually going ahead at full speed around Bakhmut and that Ukrainian operations were proving to be "unfortunately, partially successful".

On Wednesday, both Prigozhin and the Ukrainian military said that Kyiv's forces had routed a Russian army unit near Bakhmut, in a significant advance for Ukraine.

All Biden needs to say to win any debate and any election vs. Trump now is "Well, my speaking skillz aren't great, but at least I haven't been indicted for dealings with a hooker." and "Yeah, made a few mistakes, but paying off hookers ain't one of 'em."

Keeps the focus and spotlight on the array of negatives from Senor trump. Galvanizes the 30% of the country that will ensure Trump is the Republican's candidate and neutralizes Desantis completely for the 2024 election cycle. The rest of the country will continue to move away from Trump and his kleptocracy.

Clayton K. Char

What a joke! This is going to backfire on the Democrats big time! .....They have gone so far as to mark the stage so that Biden knows where to stand. However, Biden messes up when it comes to reading a prepared script.

The Trump supporters think this indictment will help Trump get re-elected. All it's going to do is give his opponents a suit of armor to deflect any and all criticisms and questions based on their miscues or issues back at Trump. "Yes, I my program for __ was a tragic failure, but look at Mr. Forever Whining About Bring Indicted Trump over there." Given the state of the extremist Republican party, there's a decent chance he'll end up being their candidate, but no chance he'll get elected President.....he's even easier a target now.

@Fighto!

Bitcoin's still down 40% from a year ago. That kind of instability needs to be controlled in order for BitCoin, etc., to ever be considered as a stable currency. Can't have such wild fluctuations and consumer confidence at the same time. That generally requires some sort of regulation which is what the crypto crowds fear.

There are some uses, in the case of Ethereum, such as access to the distributed computing world, however the claims that this will free people from their fiat currency chains are lofty to say the least.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

Posted in: Japan to launch pilot program for issuing digital yen See in context

Cryptocurrencies are still not based on any economic activity or product and are bought and sold in fiat currencies. They will never replace real currency as they have no company backing them that generates real income.

Tony….my point was that the experimental design in the article people are using to support their point of view was poorly executed. If the article came to the conclusion that masks were critically important, but suffered from defective methods, that should be called out also.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Isn’t the Cochrane article the one where the authors admit that most mask studies (including theirs) suffer from artifacts such as “improper masking” in which the mask is worn so that the nose is not covered as well as deficiencies due to “self-reporting” which is the over-estimation of proper masking an individual would assign to themselves?

Thing is that reinfection by alpha, beta, delta and original omicron are rare as these lineages are not cycling through human populations.

fun side note: The older corona variants are found in deer (particularly white tailed deer in upstate NY as well as deer in Texas and Michigan. No info on whether the Nara deer populations have been tested). At least one case of deer to human transmission was recorded.
