Posted in: Baby goods in Japan facing steeper price hikes See in context

Has anyone looked at the cost of a pack of diapers in the US? Before anyone complains about the cost of diapers here in Japan go on the US Amazon and cost them out and one will be surprised at how cheap diapers are here. I heard in Indonesia diapers are far more expensive than Japan. For baby food, go to the vegetable markets, buy potatoes, daikon and carrots boil mash them up and or put them in a blender add milk and butter cheaper and healthier than the crap in jars.

Food prices are still cheaper here especially fruits and vegetables and I count my blessings for safe and functional transportation, and I don't need a car, that comes along with insurance, gas and upkeep that is another huge savings. As for rents, I looked at prices across Canadian cities they are no cheaper and or more expensive than Tokyo and again when you take out the car and the cost of that you are further ahead in Japan.

This is good for us foreigners living in Asia and not China. China doesn't charge as much as other airlines and though we may have to transit the cost could be almost half. At the moment, other airlines have raised their prices to almost of the world records from Asia to America and so this will be a nice break for us folks living in Asia.

Unless Japan raises their interest rates to bring inflation under control like the rest of the world, I can see the yen going up to 200 against the American dollar. Unfortunately, the government is being ran by a bunch of old men who forefathers were politicians and many of those old men inherited those lifetime jobs and where it takes forever to get anything changed because these old men don't like change.

Only by chance a few summers ago I kept my air con on 24/7 and thought OMG my electricity bill is going to be through the roof, but to my surprise it was no more expensive than turning it off and on. What I heard that the air con, when starting up each and every time takes a lot of power and so that is why there is not much difference in the cost. I also only use one A/C for my entire place, and I cut down the use of my lights in my house not only in summer but all year round and so my bills run between 3,000 yen to max 10,000 yen but it will be interesting to see what my bill will be this month will the rise of power.

This was a single mother, and probably expected to raise 2 children on her own with no financial support. Where was the father? I can almost guarantee he was not providing child support leaving the entire financial burden on the mother. Unlike in N. America there are severe consequences for those deadbeat fathers but not here in Japan.

Of course, my heart bleeds for the loss of those children lives but more needs to be done to go after those fathers who run off many times to another woman and start another family leaving the last family to struggle.

Really, did this story need to be published. First and foremost, this man needed to be taken to have a medical check to see if all his marbles were fine. Second, if they were or were not, the family should have been contacted if there were any existing and have him treated.

A lot of elderly acts out, because they want to be arrested and so they can be locked up in order to get free medical care, lodging and food. The stats show a high number of elderly persons are locked up and found for just the reasons I laid out.

The government needs to stop giving money away to other countries and start investing in health care for the aging and society. and their families. Also, they need to address the issues of bullying in schools, and with many mixed families now in Japan consider providing public schools designated for mixed race children that will cut down a lot of bullying, removing stress on teachers, parents and children that will help these children blend into society with security.

Wow, the US minimum wage in most States are so low that most people need to work a second job and so make life more miserable they raise the interest rates and so people can lose their jobs. There is something wrong with that madness and should be made illegal.

Posted in: Ghosn files $1 billion lawsuit in Lebanon against Nissan over his imprisonment in Japan See in context

In this country you are guilty if arrested and it is nearly impossible to get an innocence in the Court the police have more power than the judges this, I heard from my friend a Japanese lawyer. Had Ghosn stayed to fight the charges he would have absolutely no way to have proven his innocence because he would have needed access to his office, and he was cut off even from his wife. It truly appeared he was being railroaded and it was good he could escape because he would have been in prison here for many years innocent or not.

It will be very interesting to see what his lawsuit will bring to surface and if it proves his innocence there are going to be a lot of heads rolling for sure.

Waste of money those elections, because it is the same old individuals that are there shouting into those bullhorns driving around in cars breaking everyone's ear drums. There are no debates on tv and so the public can hear what these individuals really have to say and have mercy on our daily lives. Really, it is a merry-go-round where one individual gets off and goes and sits in the corner and the other gets on until they do it all over again, unfortunately.

People should be given a choice. I don't want my personal information on this card, because if the government messes up for myself and many other foreigners who cannot read Chinese character could be in a whole lot of financial mess and we will never get reimbursed. The government's response will be guaranteed "shoganai" "gomen nasai" and they will move on leaving us holding the bag.

When I read this headline, I believed this was an act that had been done at multiple restaurants and causing havoc on more than one occasion.

Regarding the safeguards that this restaurant is putting in place it should have been done a while ago after the COVID started with their COVID subsidies because that is one of the reasons, they were given large multiple government subsidies especially to these large chain restaurants.

There is no excuse for the prank and or the egging on I am absolutely sure by the other kids, but this lawsuit is overkill by this LARGE chain restaurant.
