Posted in: Kishida marks 78th anniversary of World War II end without mentioning Japan's wartime aggression See in context

In December, 1941 my mother, six sisters , brother and uncle went to the country out of Teluk Anson in Perak, Malaya to escape Japanese bombs. The bombers came very early in the morning! Machine-gunning the ground on their way to bomb the town! We ran out of the palm leaf hut! Not knowing what to do! Where to go! We ran into the shade of a rumbutan tree! Piling up one onto another! Crying! Praying! We were a family united in fear!

Addiction? To cigarettes? To alcohol?

How to stop Addiction to Cigarette and to Alcohol?

It may take a loooooooolong time! But Parents AND Schools START training children to Hate cigarettes AND alcohol NOW !

At seven years, I took ! a ! sip ! from my father's whisky. That was my First and Last taste of alcohol.

At seven years, I took ! a ! puff ! from my grandfather's cigarette. That was my First and Last puff of cigarette smoke.

I am enjoying a long life. In January, Mary Simon - Governor General of Canada sent me happy greetings for my birthday. She was seven years early. I think she thinks: seven years early is better than never.

Posted in: Mount Fuji trail use to be restricted when overcrowded See in context

The only way to limit the number of Mount Fuji climbers is to build a powerful electric fence with only one entrance to suround Mount Fuji and, charging each climber two thousand yen. Plus a thousand yen more if he or she does not return with a filled garbage bag. This suggestion is to respect Mount Fuji an international symbol of Japan as a country and, Japan's sacred, holy and most beautiful mountain.

Thirty-five minutes is more than half an hour : a looooooooolong time!

And he did not notice his gun was missing?

This shows this officer is not a good police officer and should be sacked. Because someone could have picked up the loaded gun and killed himself or killed some person or killed some people.

Had he noticed it very soon after he left the toilet he is a good officer and should remain a police officer. Japan Police need only good officers.

Treated radioactive water?

How is radioactive water treated so that it becomes non radioactive?

To be released in to the Pacific Ocean?

And not radioactivate all fish in the Pacific Ocean with radioactivity to radioactivate all people eating the radioactive fish?

And Mr Fumio Kishida, do you on behalf of all people in Japan, have utter confidence in the honeyed words of the International Atomic Commision ?

Posted in: Japan eyes new system to fine cyclists for traffic violations See in context

For me a cyclist who has been cycling for eighty years, wearing a helmet would very likely involve me in an accident. Why? Because with a helmet on my head I would cycle faster, feeling safe thinking the helmet would protect me if I fall! Without a helmet I am most careful on my bike. And I go slow. Besides, cycle helmets do not protect the face ! the most vulnerable part of the head! If cricket players wear helmets which protect the face, why do cyclists not wear cricket helmets ?

Posted in: As heat records fall, how hot is too hot for the human body? See in context

Born not far from Singapore and living there for seventeen years I have always hated the tropics. In Europe and, for fifty years in Canada I have always loved the winters and hated the summers. Since I arrived in Canada on the 18th of December, 1966, I have cycled every day. I am of course dressed for the cold with one size larger shoes plus thick wollen socks, half inch thick sheepskin mittens and, a hooded 6000 down winter coat. On very cold days of around minus 25 degrees Celsius I make shorter trips around the city. Every morning and every night I take 6 trays of ice cubes to freeze the water to throw over my head and body to experience great thrills each time. I wake up feeling on top of the world and at night sleep like a baby.
