Never mind my dear lady, it’s only like a cold now and as you’re not very old or obese there is little to concern you

Get well soon.

I wish the press would provide additional trivial reports on Crown Princess Kiko’s health throughout the year. Or perhaps I don’t. It’s rather unnecessary, isn’t it?

12 ( +23 / -11 )

Just quick fact about coronavirus, covid can infect any human, virus doesn't care about social status and nationality.

13 ( +26 / -13 )

“it’s only like a cold now.” Except that a cold doesn’t have the risk of giving you Long Covid. Down vote all you want, it’s true.

Despite probably the sixth booster shot, finally catched COVID for first time after 3 years.

I‘m with her in my thoughts…

Covid is a virus. It has become endemic: Everyone, everywhere, will eventually "test positive". The idea of a vaccination is to prevent an infection from becoming serious, not in eliminating the possibility of infection.

Thomas

So true my friend, and vaccines haven’t stopped transmission well have they, lol

-16 ( +11 / -27 )

So what?

1 ( +12 / -11 )

Oh dear! I don't remember 'many' saying such thing. Seems grandpa is getting confused and needs a cup of tea.

Just one example of the media saying how long COVID could be the next public health disaster. Notice how these clowns always choose make clever use of modals.

"This could be game-changing in terms of how we do medical practice, in the same way HIV/AIDs was a game-changer,"

At this point in time, who hasn’t?

2 ( +11 / -9 )

Many people got it. She is just a person after all.

You know approximately zero about the Princesses' health condition and possible risks. Not only that, you are not a doctor.

Wishing Princess Kiko a full recovery.

At this point in time, who hasn’t?

My wife and I haven't.

7 ( +12 / -5 )

Take care, get well soon..

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

At this point in time, who hasn’t?

Me, my partner, a few colleagues, their partners. We might have had it but didn't know about. I'd put that silver-lining down to the vaccines. Just my opinion.

@garypen

That’s good to hear. I’m happy for the both of you.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

And, so what? She's human like everyone else. It can affect anyone. Just get better soon.

@Muchael Machida

Yes, and many people have had one of the lesser Covid variants without ever realizing it.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Me, my partner, a few colleagues, their partners. We might have had it but didn't know about. I'd put that silver-lining down to the vaccines.

And you do know that the vaccines don't prevent you getting Covid right? I know loads who have never been vaxed and never had any symptoms of Covid at all, and have never even been tested.

What they have in common is that they are all healthy and don't get colds in general. Chances are that if the Princess was non-vaxed and in pretty good health in general she may have never got it.

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

And you do know that the vaccines don't prevent you getting Covid right?

Yeah. I know. You do know that vaccines prevent serious illness? I bet you don't.

3 ( +11 / -8 )

Get well soon.

To clarify, the discovery of coronaviruses dates back to the 1960s. The first human coronavirus, known as B814, was discovered in 1965. Coronaviruses were known to cause mild respiratory infections in humans, typically associated with the common cold. But, the specific coronavirus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic, SARS-CoV-2, is a novel strain of coronavirus that was first identified in December 2019.

“it’s only like a cold now.” Except that a cold doesn’t have the risk of giving you Long Covid. Down vote all you want, it’s true.

Very true. I personally know someone who has had persistent asthma now for six months after "recovering" from COVID, and may or may not completely recover over time. I also know someone whose pancreas was damaged by COVID and they are diabetic now.

The virus can cause damage to any number of organs in the body, sometimes permanent. It is not just a respiratory virus, but a virus that attacks your immune cells and causes extreme reactions in the immune system of some otherwise healthy people. This is far more dangerous than the typical cold or flu precisely because it is so new to our bodies and attacks the immune cells in our respiratory tract first.

same here think I got it last year but my vaccine most likely made the symptoms very mild.

8 of my family members got vaccinated, 2 didnt, sister in law 52, her son 25, both got covid were sick asf for a week. the 8 that were vaccinated if they got covid it wasnt noticeable, 4 of them in their 70s.

your opinion is backed by the science, so dont feel bad when those with hurt feelings spread their disinformation

3 ( +8 / -5 )

The virus is a around, will stay around, every one of has had it several times now (unless you live as a hermit in the wild...).

Luckily it has changed now to be less virulent and more infectious, as viruses always do. This is not a secret, virologists have explained this from the start. Best thing is to stay healthy, and keep a strong immune system. (Sadly, big pharma is more interested in selling expensive treatment than explaining this)

I had it. Four days. 1.5 days fever and then an itchy throat.

I was bitten twice by centipedes, two weeks of intense pain and bedridden. Influenza was 10 days in bed. Sore joints and flu like symptoms. Snake bites were two weeks but just tired and not as bad as centerpieces. I hate them. Haven’t been stung by a hornet yet, but have a few flying around my house. Jellyfish, just a day.

my partners work currently has a Covid explosion, and my friends clinic also has one, so I bought a new comfrey mattress and ¥40000 of fruit, and ordered some Chinese medicine.

be prepared.

Here we go again trying to instill fear to people about Covid. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me

-4 ( +8 / -12 )

Only a flue? Or not? Of course, it depends on each individual case. You can carry the virus without any symptoms, or it can trash your system for ca month, and it can even kill you... The statement "test positive for COVID" doesn't mean much by itself.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Here we go again trying to instill fear to people about Covid.

Another one.

The two groups who get all hysterical about Covid are those living in fear of Covid and those who see any article about it as ‘fear mongering’.

These types have so much in common.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

I had forgotten Covid still existed.

Hope the Princess recovers soon.

Now listen here folks... We have hundreds of thousands of Covid hospitalizations!... They're not reporting it, but the numbers are way larger than they seem... All the hospital beds are full!... The healthcare system is on the brink of collapse!... No, it already collapsed!!... Now the imperial family has it too... This is all because of the highly vocal and irresponsible minority!...Aren't you worried about the granny living next door to you?...Follow the 3Cs!... Don't take public transit... Wear a mask... Get an appointment for the next booster as soon as you can!... We can get through this, but we need to work together and follow the science!...All the vaccine and science skepticism is just that... Ain't nothing...

-4 ( +6 / -10 )

Health is wealth. Life is a precious gift. The whole world is one family. Long live humanity.

The last time I came across hysterics worse that was after the 2020 election.

You came close but no cigar.

*than that

People saying they haven't had it etc, at this point if you don't live a self sustained life in the forest you have most definitely gotten it, probably many times. I work from home and barely go outside and I have had it multiple times, I just happen to be someone that gets pretty bad from it. The reality is that most people don't get that bad from it, some might just get a slight cold not worth checking out and some won't even show symptoms, but for sure we have all had it in our system.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

This news doesn’t surprise me at all. At this point, we are smack dab in the middle of the Ninth wave but you never know it. (Nobody in Japan is looking) Everybody I know has had it in the last two months or has friends or family that are suffering through it now. I just had it myself for the three weeks. In my case, it’s the sickest I’ve ever been in life with the highest fever I’ve ever had 40.5. From my experience, I can tell you that is no flu or just a cold. It did some damage!

2 ( +4 / -2 )

The Imperial Household Agency must be going out of their minds, wondering how a member of the most isolated and insulated family in the country got infected.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

To the people saying ‘so what?’ she’s a human being just like the rest of us. Obviously, she won’t be reading the comments section of Japan Today, but a little niceness and empathy is a nice thing in a sometimes nasty world.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

"My wife and I haven't."

Good for you & your wife. Are you a member of the Imperial Family?
